Isabella Whāwhai Waru, Laniyuk, Pauline Vetuna, Aїsha Trambas, Ate Cheska, Ebony Howald, and Stacey Lake share their experiences, stories and rituals around matters of colonialism, discrimination and privilege in Where We Stand at Dancehouse.
I photographed the preshowing enabling a close up and personal interaction with each performance. What makes this show most memorable is because of the way the ritual took place. Other than those involved with the production, and the audiences personal experiences (who would be provided safe passage into this performance space), these photos are the only other insight into what went behind these doors.
Pauline Vetuna
It was powerful.
It was omnipotent.
It was black magic.
It was indigenous.
